//CORN & RETRO SHOES

-Vess-
Jacket: Childhood
Dress: Malaysia
Shoes: Rivers Sunnies: Myers

Thought is was about time we showed you what we wore in sunny Queensland! It was so warm compared to chilly Melbourne that we were wearing dresses, shirts, light cardigans, basically spring and summer clothes which were getting quite dusty in our wardrobe!

The above pics are from what I think is the 'SouthBank' of Queens land. It was the home of the man made swimming pool/beach, (yes, people were swimming there and sun baking) and the $5 movie tickets (we watched kungfu panda 2!!)

Another great event that was happening on Southbank was this mini market. It was fantastic! Small crafty ideas, corn, churros, animal shaped usbs, deco and more. Lots of vintage fashion as well, which I thought was really special. Made me feel part of a wider world of vintage lovers!

thought to finish the post with this pic,

cause everyone loves corn on a cob!

//THE SITES

Left to right:
Brisbane Casino, Centre building(not sure of the name), Central Train Station

Probably the thing that impressed me the most about Brisbane, was their architecture and planning of the city. Yes, I have to say that Brisbane CBD is much smaller than Melbourne CBD (sorry Queenslanders!) but it''s got some amazing architecture and urban planning.

The most interesting thing about this row or collection of buildings was the colours, patterns, tones. Can you see how it bears resemblance to our friend's scarf? Pesonally, I have to say, we considered it a very exciting discovery.

Here, take a look, the blues, reds, blacks and greys are repeated in the pattern of the scarf! What do you guys think? It was Vess who pointed it out, (such a graphic designer thing to do) and I have to agree with her. I really love this picture because of the correlation of colours, patterns and shapes of the buildings and how it almost looks like a collage.

Just wanted to show you guys that inspiration can come from anywhere! Even where you don't expect it! Such as buildings in sunny Brisbane

//QUEENSLAND intro

the lovely ones in Queensland

Sadly, our blog has been stagnant for the past few weeks, it’s been very hard and difficult to blog, when we have sooooo much to blog about! So, as you may have read/heard/anticipated in our very long uni break (almost 2 months) Vess and I and two of our dear friends journeyed up to the sunny side of Australia, Queensland!

We didn’t stay too long in Queensland, but basically, we explored, travelled, smiled at and were inspired by the weather of Queensland, the architecture, the theme parks and their art and culture.
It was a great time to relax as well. And it was our first time travelling together as a group of friends. It felt like a really long, fun and calm sleepover.

Keep looking, because there will be more pictures to come of what we did and saw in Queensland!

//WE HEART

Hello lovely ones

Tons of people have been asking us where we go to buy all of our thifted clothes. We always respond with a promise to share it on our blog. That's what you're getting today!

So yesterday we went with an amazing bunch of friends to do one of our favourite past times- op shopping!

First stop on our list was "The Recycle Superstore" Brunswick Savers. Savers is definitely not like the average op-shop. It's like the op-shop equivalent to Kmart. It's MASSIVE! Racks and racks of clothing, it takes time and effort to find that bargain. But it is so worth it! Everytime we go to Savers we never leave empty handed. It's got really great prices for lovely items of clothing, and you can find modern brands (like bettino liano & supre) and some vintage pieces. That is, if you look hard enough. :)

Our second destination was the church on Doncaster Road. There is a really quaint second hand store next to the church that has really sweet clothing. With lots of lovely blouses and longs skirts that remind me of Sportsgirl and Dotti's current collection. Prices range from $2-$15 for most clothing. You can really find some gorgeous treasures there.

OKAY, I'm sure by now you're dying to know what we bought!

Beige Sweater//$6

Red Pencil Skirt//$6

Long Trench from "vintage" Target//$20

Mustard Blazer//$7

How gorgeous are they! We both were so happy with our buys. The long trench's label had a embroidered target symbol. It looks like its from soooo long ago, but in suchhhh fantastic condition!
And we're looking forward to styling these pieces for winter, specifically the red pencil skirt and the mustard coloured blazer. This season we think that it's all about the POPs of colour that will brighten up deary days!

So what do you guys think about our buys?

//MY, WHAT A BOWTIE

So, these are a couple of bowties our awesomely awesome friend gave to us! Bow ties and ties hehehehe

These bow ties were gifted to us from some wonderful friends who recently got married, apparently their mum bought a ton of these clip on ties for the young men at the wedding. What ever the reason, we love these bow ties!

Also featured in this post is my new white blouse bought by my lovely sister, Vess. She went op shopping and came back with this beautiful, white, flowey, and comfy blouse. Can't wait to wear it with some high waisted skirts!

Another exciting addition are the picture frames in our room. These were leaning against our floor for years, collecting dust and taking up space! So finally we decided to take the plunge and hung them on our wall. We're quite pleased with the results. What do you think?

Have a great, special, brilliant, blessed and 'bow-tastic' day! (hehe)

Hello Hello wonderful friends!

Can you believe that it's the middle of the year already? We are currently having holidays where we are, so it's been great having the time to reflect on our blessings and to continue our adventuring!

My outfit really is a combination of my favourite things! The spotty shirt is a really tailored but despite its simplicity it still manages to be a standout! Another one of my favourite things is... my new brooch!

It's so lovely. I picked it out at a market, instantly loving it's little chandelier like quality! Adds a little something extra to my outfits. I will be definitely sharing other creative ways to wear this particular ah-mazing brooch

//DEAREST dad

Project: A very special birthday card
Aim: To show lots of love, love, love to our dear father
Materials: Coloured card, White Paper, Cutting knife, Glue

Hello wonderful friends! So sorry the blog has been stagnant for nearly two weeks! (and it's been stuck on the last stylish post, of my blue blouse!) It's because Vess and I took a little trip to Queensland for the past week, enjoying the sunshine and the theme parks! It was a fantastic trip and of course we will be sharing some photos of the quirky things that caught our eye while we were up there.

This card we made, just before we left for our trip and if you haven't realised it was a very special card for a very special person. Our wonderful father.

Our dad has taught us so many things, how to cook, clean, wash our car, save money, tease our mum, iron shirts, stir fry vegetables and basically how to look after ourselves. But he's also taught us life lessons on how to care for others, how to laugh and how to love Jesus.

This card is really special because it's got the 'pop up' wow factor! Vess made the inside of the card (including the meticulous cutting of the tree) and I completed it, by making the black outside and the 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' font. Pop ups make things so much cooler, don't you think?

Keep looking for more posts, Big Picture Stuff is back in business guys!
We can't wait to show you what we got up to in Queensland!
