//FRANKIE LOVE

Coloured paper, graphite, pattern paper, newspaper... paper,
derwent pencils, white charcoal pencil, black fineliner

Love Love Love Frankie magazine. Seriously, we adore it.

Another thing that I (VESS!) adore is fashion illustration. Fashion illustration was a major part of my year 12 folio last year and I always loved drawing fashion.  I really really really want to illustrate more, specifically for this blog! And I also want to share some of my fashion illustration icons. (Yes, I have fashion illustration heroes...) We have some fabulous illustrators right here in Melbourne whose line work and watercolour I am soooooo inspired by!

So, please expect more of my work soon. Hope you like it!

And the original Frankie magazine cover:
(I am begging you to not scroll up and down and pick up my mistakes! Yes, I changed her face... sorry!)

BTW, I did send this image to the wonderful people over at Frankie, and they thought it was lovely and nice.

Sigh, I think I need to work harder...

// POPULAR PENGUINS

"Penguin Books is a publisher founded in 1935 by Sir Allen Lane. Penguin revolutionised publishing in the 1930s through its high quality, inexpensive paperbacks, sold through Woolworths and other high street stores for sixpence. Penguin's success demonstrated that large audiences existed for serious books.  Penguin Books is now the flagship imprint of the worldwide Penguin Group and is owned by Pearson PLC."
(info obtained from Wikipedia!)

I love Penguin Classics; book range, bag range, cup range, notebook range and any other range with that iconic orange and creme strip. The simplicitiy of the book design, once placed on something else gives that object such a calm, beautiful and serene quality. Also makes it quite desirable for myself. Ho hum, how I wish everything was Penguin covered!

The pictures above was taken when we borrowed this lovely, original penguin book from our friend Thu. Thu is so kind and caring (and probably doesn't know until now, we took pictures with her book!) If you ever need a book, go to Thu and she can recommend one in a second!

If only I could have all these!

Hope you all have had a lovely day full of classic moments!

//LUFFY

 Project: Luke's Eighteenth birthday card
Aim: To celebrate a special day and an equally special person
Materials: White card, black fineliner, scissors
Hello friends, haven't managed to do a 'keep crafty' post for a while! So decided to share this one with you!Seems lately, we've been making ALOT of 18th birthday cards. The great thing about making personalised cards is the orginiality and sentimental-ness of it.

This card was made for our lovely friend Luke, he's such a kind and caring person who's made such an impression on our hearts. On his birthday he went around the group and said thankyou to each individual person, for being in his life! How gorgeous is that?

Well, I heard he liked Luffy, from the anime One Piece. Luffy, is such an energetic, fun character which I think embodies 18 birthday-ness! So I drew and water-coloured the cartoon and pasted that on a white card and surrounded it in quirky, fun, whimsical letter font!

thanks Luke for being a great friend and for giving me opportunity to make such a fun card!

//LIGHT & DARK

A3 Paper: Charcoal

Hello lovely friends, so Vess does Life drawing in uni and she wanted to tell you about her work:

Hi guys, wanted to share with you all what I did in Lifedrawing class! One of my classes at uni, the four hour class has been a lot of fun and I think that my drawing has improved. Mind you, I spent like 2-3 hours on this drawing. Usually we do around 12 drawing per class, but that day we only did a maximum two!

So keep practicing all you amazing artists out there!

Really excited to share with you more pieces of work as time goes by. Is that okay? :)

By the way,

"It's Friday!"

//COFFEE AND TEA

-Vess-
Top:
 Cocolate
High Waisted Coffee Skirt: Thifted
Floral Top: Cotten On

Here, is another beautiful piece from our little thift shop endevours. This coffee colour high waisted skirt, is such a fantastic find. Just one of those pieces which; feels good, looks great and is in great condition! I just really love the classic look of high waisted skirts.This coffee colour especially is really coherent with the creams and baiges of this season.

Lately we've been exploring different places in our house for outfit posts, it's great fun! Our little sister said these pictures make our house look much prettier than it actually is. The illusion of photography! This funky object is a portable television. Which is beginning to look quite retro in the light of Smart phones and such!

By the way, we would like to say a MASSIVE THANKYOU to all our viewers. Thanks so much friends, for 'taking a look' at our blog and encouraging us! It's really a special privledge to be able to share aspects of our lives with you guys. We will ensure that we continue to inspire you to be crafty while being as stylist as possible to make you smile in a 'Big Picture' sort of way!

Have an amazing week!

//SIMPLE THINGS

Say hello to my little friend!

I love spotting lovely little things when I don't expect them.

I saw this delightful car while I was in the bus travelling from the city and happened to spot it out the window.
I have to say, volkswagen beetles has such a distinct sense of character and authenticy which you only can find in classic vintage objects.

Seeing something, that once belonged to a different era, time and place, just pulls at my heart strings.
That the owner, even though, they probably could have chosen a; faster, bigger, newer car, they chose this.

A simple thing.
which makes life even more wonderful.

 look out for the simple things in life today!

//CARAMEL COCO-LATTE

-Val-
Shoes: Target
Scarf: Gift from Milan
Camel Shirt: Thifted
Belt: Thrifted
High waist skirt: Cocolatte

Tights: Giordano
Love Love Love Val's Camel Shirt! Acquired at Savers, she got this for... $7? An absolutely perfect piece for the autumn months! What's great about this outfit is how the camel colour is complimented by the shades of brown, white and grey. Just like a caramel swirl icecream, or an ice-coffee, better yet, a latte? What do you think?  (Val came up with the ice-cream, Vess came up with the coffe!) It would also look awesome with a pair of winter boots. Something that we can add to our "must have" lists.
Val absolutely loves this camel coloured shirt! A queen of op-shopping and bargin hunting, she did an amazing job spotting this one out. So expect to see this shirt in a ton more keep stylish posts!
As mentioned before, we do have significantly different styles. Truly excited to take a photo of our wardrobe to show you how different our styles are! (And you would probably notice something else in terms of quantity!)
Hope that today you're wearing a scarf, indoors, nice and toasty or sipping a hot chocolate. :)
All you really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.

//BOOK MARK blessings

 Project: Bookmark Blessings
Aim: To create a personalised Gift to some EPIC people
Materials: White Paper, Watercolour paint, Photoshop, and Ink

This was a terribly fun project which we did a while back for our dear friends in Singapore. We wanted to make each of our friends something personal and unique yet also useable! So we made bookmarks! And also somewhat created a 'brand identity' for their epic cell.

Epic Cell, is the name of their church fellowship group which we were so blessed to visit and experience. We wanted to make gifts to send to them for Christmas and we came up with this idea!

Each book mark has a hand drawn personalized picture (which we drew!) with a corresponding Bible Verse to match the picture!

This was a really fun project and we hope you enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoyed making them!

//FLORAL FUN

-Vess-
Shoes: Take2market
Necklace: Camberwell Market
Dress: Deborah K
Oversized cardigan: Thrifted
Top: Cotton On

Thought it would be fabulous to introduce you to the fashion world of Vess. So far Val has been making quite a prolonged appearance on the blog and we haven't seen much of beautiful Vess' clothes and style.

It's great fun to note the differences in our personal style, Vess is quite the more flowery, simplistic one, while Val has a androgyny edge with lots of layering.

With this outfit, the dress and the flows of the loose top really complement each other and there's a great harmony between the colours. So we're just trying out some style ideas for the coming Autumn season! (and some potential future outside shoots with autumn leaves!)

Hope everyone enjoyed the great weather on the weekend!
